ultimate guide to eloping in alaska banner image

Elopement couples are a different breed; the love for adventure, willingness to go against the status quo, and a burning desire to create a day that’ll become a life-long memory. As an elopement photographer based in Juneau, Alaska, I truly believe the biggest state in the U.S. also has the biggest potential to make for […]

rainy juneau wedding portraits with a rainbow

Kaci reached out to me looking to get the wedding portraits that they never had, while having some time together to reconnect and have fun. I like to call these types of photoshoots, “I-still-do” sessions. Right as the rain rolled in and we were about to leave, a rainbow appeared. Scroll down to see Kaci and Josh’s rainy rainbow wedding portraits.

Kaira and Dan’s Girdwood waterfall elopement was anything but traditional. Two days before tying the knot, they hit road the with their closest friends, for a pre-wedding road trip. They started from their hometown of Fairbanks and drove the Parks Highway to Girdwood, to ultimately elope at Virgin Creek Falls. Virgin Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall nestled within the towering trees of the Chugach National Forest. When Kaira and Dan said their “I Dos” under Virgin Creek Falls, the only words I can use to describe it are: Moody, ethereal, and magical. Want to read more about Kaira and Dan’s Girdwood waterfall elopement and what it’s like to elope in Girdwood? Keep reading this blog post!

foggy hatcher pass elopement double exposure

I’ve had the pleasure of exploring Hatcher Pass a few times now, and it never feels like enough. Every single time I drive the winding road and see the hills my jaw hits the floor. It truly is an otherworldly place. When should you elope in Hatcher Pass? If you want access to the highest elevation for the most epic mountain shots, you’ll want to elope when the roads are open between July and September.

alaska mountaintop elopement

Picture this, pledging your love to your person on the top of a mountain in Alaska. You are engulfed by stunning views of the nearby peaks and the blue-green water in the channel below, sparkling in the sunshine. Birds chirp, and bees lazily buzz around the nearby wildflowers. The smell of earth and a faint hint of wildflowers wafting in the breeze. It is just the two of you at this moment together. What could be better? There are many beautiful locations to plan an elopement in and around Juneau. But for the stunning mountaintop views Greg and Pam were looking for, Mount Roberts was the ideal backdrop.

surprise proposal at the whale statue in juneau alaska blog post banner

If you’re traveling to Alaska with a surprise proposal in mind, Juneau, Alaska should be at the top of the list. Especially for those with adventurous hearts! With its proximity to picturesque mountains, blue flowing glaciers, and abundant wildlife, Juneau is the total package. The best time to visit Juneau is late spring and summer when the days are warm, and the wildflowers bloom.  It is also the best time to do whale watching (though the whale statue is up year round)! When Tyler reached out to me to plan his surprise proposal in Juneau, Alaska, he told me he used to come here as a kid and that he couldn’t think of a better place to propose. Tyler and Nikki were already planning a trip with his family and their best friends during the 4th of July, which was a perfect cover for his plan. However, only a select few knew what Tyler had up his sleeve!
