foggy hatcher pass elopement double exposure

I’ve had the pleasure of exploring Hatcher Pass a few times now, and it never feels like enough. Every single time I drive the winding road and see the hills my jaw hits the floor. It truly is an otherworldly place. When should you elope in Hatcher Pass? If you want access to the highest elevation for the most epic mountain shots, you’ll want to elope when the roads are open between July and September.

alaska mountaintop elopement

Picture this, pledging your love to your person on the top of a mountain in Alaska. You are engulfed by stunning views of the nearby peaks and the blue-green water in the channel below, sparkling in the sunshine. Birds chirp, and bees lazily buzz around the nearby wildflowers. The smell of earth and a faint hint of wildflowers wafting in the breeze. It is just the two of you at this moment together. What could be better? There are many beautiful locations to plan an elopement in and around Juneau. But for the stunning mountaintop views Greg and Pam were looking for, Mount Roberts was the ideal backdrop.

surprise proposal at the whale statue in juneau alaska blog post banner

If you’re traveling to Alaska with a surprise proposal in mind, Juneau, Alaska should be at the top of the list. Especially for those with adventurous hearts! With its proximity to picturesque mountains, blue flowing glaciers, and abundant wildlife, Juneau is the total package. The best time to visit Juneau is late spring and summer when the days are warm, and the wildflowers bloom.  It is also the best time to do whale watching (though the whale statue is up year round)! When Tyler reached out to me to plan his surprise proposal in Juneau, Alaska, he told me he used to come here as a kid and that he couldn’t think of a better place to propose. Tyler and Nikki were already planning a trip with his family and their best friends during the 4th of July, which was a perfect cover for his plan. However, only a select few knew what Tyler had up his sleeve!

anna and dylan's Alaska beach wedding

One thing I love about outdoor weddings and elopements in Alaska is you never quite know exactly how they will turn out. You can have ideas, plan, and schedules — but the thing about Alaska is that nature always has the beautiful final word. When I arrived at Dylan and Anna’s Alaska beach wedding venue, you could tell it was going to rain. The clouds were rolling and the air was thick. That did not deter anyone from enjoying the day. The air was as thick with humidity as it was with joy and excitement. It was a truly all Alaskan wedding.

waterfall couple's session

Christina and Lucas’ session took place at Nugget Falls Waterfall in Juneau Alaska. Nugget Falls is a large and epic waterfall located in the Mendenhall Valley right next to the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau Alaska. It is one of the most scenic locations in Juneau Alaska, whether you’re getting your photo taken, or taking photos yourself. In this blog post I will share a little bit more about Nugget Falls, how to get there, and things you need to know before you go.

when do the fireweeds bloom in alaska

When fireweeds bloom depends on the weather and climate. Summers are unpredictable in southeast and southcentral Alaska, especially with global warming trends; some summers there is hardly any clear warm days, and some summers there are weeks of high temperatures and droughts. On average though, the fireweeds bloom anytime between early July through mid-September
