I’ve had the pleasure of exploring Hatcher Pass a few times now, and it never feels like enough. Every single time I drive the winding road and see the hills my jaw hits the floor. It truly is an otherworldly place. When should you elope in Hatcher Pass? If you want access to the highest elevation for the most epic mountain shots, you’ll want to elope when the roads are open between July and September.

Mary and Samuel are a fun-loving, adventurous couple who find joy in everything that they do. They also have big hearts and are very close with their families. These were their biggest priorities when planning how their wedding day would look and feel. They knew they wanted their closest family members to be a part of their day, but they also wanted something meaningful and adventurous, so a big traditional wedding was not right for them. Kaiden and Rylee came to Juneau on a road trip from their hometown of Fairbanks Alaska. Kaiden thought Juneau, with its mountains and coastal views, would be the perfect place for a surprise engagement proposal. According to Kaiden, Rylee was always talking about wanting to get professional photos of them. So, we met up in the morning at Skater’s Cabin for what seemed to be an average couples session. Kaira and Dan’s Girdwood waterfall elopement was anything but traditional. Two days before tying the knot, they hit road the with their closest friends, for a pre-wedding road trip. They started from their hometown of Fairbanks and drove the Parks Highway to Girdwood, to ultimately elope at Virgin Creek Falls. Virgin Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall nestled within the towering trees of the Chugach National Forest. When Kaira and Dan said their “I Dos” under Virgin Creek Falls, the only words I can use to describe it are: Moody, ethereal, and magical.
